Oh my word!!!

Today I making/canning apple butter and, oh my word, it smells SO GOOD in the house!

Here's my husband's late grandmother's tried and true apple butter recipe:

Grandma D.'s Apple Butter
5 qt.s applesauce
5-6 cups sugar
3 T cinnamon
1 T Allspice
1 cup (approx) Red Hots (candies)
1 cup cider vinegar
Combine all ingredients in an oven roaster. Bake covered, but vented, at 350F for 4-6 hours until right color/consistency.
If canning: boil lids; after cooking apple butter down, pour boiling contents into hot/clean jars; put on lids/rings; place in hot water bath for 15-20 min.s. Requires no pressure cooking.
