Homemade Szechwan Sauce

Usually, we purchase this brand from the store for our stir-fry's:
But the opened bottle I found in the fridge today smelled funny... and expired in '07!!! Ewwwwww! Needless to say I threw it out.

Found an incredible recipe at AllRecipes.com- it is SO good! Not exactly like Kame's, but pretty close! And not nearly as hot! The kids could actually eat this. They loved it, in fact!

Szechwan Sauce
Serves: 6
8 Tbl water
4 Tbl ketchup
2 Tbl soy sauce (or teriyaki)
4 tsp cornstarch
2 tsp honey
1 tsp crushed red pepper flakes
1/2 tsp ground ginger
salt to taste
Combine ingredients. Set aside until meat and veggies are prepared. Add to stir fry; stir until thickened. (Would be stellar if left to set in fridge overnight, or at least a couple hours.)

Serve over brown rice. YUM!
